DIRECTV is set to make history when the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club tees off on April 7th. For this year’s tournament, DIRECTV will offer the first-ever live 4K broadcast in the U.S. with coverage of golf’s premier event. DIRECTV customers with compatible 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) equipment can watch all of the dramatic moments at Amen Corner (a reference to the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes at Augusta) on the new DIRECTV 4K channel.
Golf fans will feel like they are in the crowds at Augusta with roughly four times the resolution of HDTV for crisper images, more vibrant colors, and richer detail. This will not only make it easier to follow the ball on every drive and putt, but will also give viewers a better picture of Augusta’s beautiful scenery. The live presentations will run all four days of the tournament, April 7th-10th, from approximately 10:30 AM to 6 PM ET.
The DIRECTV 4K channel launches in April and is included with the DIRECTV ULTIMATE and DIRECTV PREMIER™ Packages. Alongside live sporting events like the Masters Tournament, DIRECTV 4K channels will feature original programming from the AUDIENCE Network, documentaries, and more.
