DIRECTV, Apple Watch Give Viewers Even More Control with App Update
For DIRECTV customers who own the Apple Watch, interacting with their favorite television is all in the wrist.
On May 8, DIRECTV released an updated version of its iPhone app that supports the new Apple product. Customers can now use the Apple Watch as a remote control to perform a variety of functions, including:
- Play, pause, rewind and fast-forward shows
- Program their HD DVRs to record individual episodes and entire seasons
- Browse TV listings for program information
“We are excited to give our customers an even easier and seamless way to engage with their favorite TV shows and movies,” said Tony Goncalves, Senior Vice President of Digital Entertainment Products for DIRECTV.
How to Use the DIRECTV Apple Watch App
WHERE TO GET IT: The updated DIRECTV app is Version 4.0.107, available to download free from the iTunes store.
TECHNICAL SPECS: The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and optimized for iPhone 5 or later models. It requires iOS 8.0 or later. As for DIRECTV hardware, users will need an Internet-connected HD DVR model HR20 or later.
PLAY, PAUSE, REWIND AND FAST-FORWARD: These functions are available with live TV, recorded content and On Demand programming.
