DIRECTV Kids App Offers Worry-Free Viewing for Children and Their Parents
Youth is served – DIRECTV has launched a mobile video app designed to entertain younger viewers without causing anxiety for their parents.
DIRECTV Kids provides access to hundreds of streaming movies and shows for viewers ages 5-10. The app is available to DIRECTV subscribers at no extra charge.
The featured programming comes from channels including Nickelodeon, Sprout, Cartoon Network and more, based on the customer’s programming package.
How the DIRECTV Kids App Works
- To help ensure age-appropriate content, DIRECTV Kids uses parental ratings and reviews provided by the advocacy group Common Sense Media. The featured TV shows are rated TVG, TVPG, TVY or TVY7. All movies are rated G or PG.
- The user interface features a kid-friendly design for easy navigation.
- DIRECTV Kids is for Apple devices including iPad and iPad running iOS 7 or higher.
- Viewers can enjoy DIRECTV Kids programming on up to five devices at the same time.
‘A Simple and Safe Viewing Environment’
The introduction of DIRECTV Kids adds a kid-focused touch to the array of DIRECTV apps for television and mobile devices.
“As our kids become more and more connected through powerful devices like tablets and computers, navigating through the rough terrain of the digital landscape for parents can be an incredibly daunting task,” said Tony Goncalves, senior vice president of DIRECTV’s Digital Entertainment Products Group. “The DIRECTV Kids App was designed to take the worry away from watching TV and give kids a simple and safe viewing environment without the need for complicated parental control set up on multiple devices.”
