DIRECTV, PGA TOUR Extend Deal for Enhanced Coverage

DIRECTV, PGA TOUR Extend Deal       for Enhanced Weekend Coverage

In golf, “+5” usually means trouble. The only exception is when fans get +5 years of expanded PGA TOUR coverage on DIRECTV.

PGA TOUR Experience on DIRECTVDIRECTV and The PGA TOUR have announced a five-year extension of the satellite TV service’s PGA TOUR Experience. The enhanced weekend coverage includes features that DIRECTV viewers can access through a four-in-one Mix Channel:

  • The CBS Sports network feed
  • Launch Pad, a channel focused on the most explosive shot in golf – the long drive – with super slow motion replays, Protracer shot tracking and more
  • SHOTLink® Channel, which provides compelling statistical data for every shot in real-time, an in-depth scorecard for each player and more stat-driven content
  • Follow-A-Group, a channel that lets viewers track specific players around the course

‘Like Nirvana for Golf Fans’

The DIRECTV PGA TOUR Experience is available during four 2015 tournaments – the Northern Trust Open, the 2015 AT&T Byron Nelson Championship, the Memorial presented by Nationwide and The Barclays.

The extension means that DIRECTV subscribers will continue to enjoy the PGA TOUR Experience through 2019.

“PGA TOUR Experience has proven to be a popular addition to DIRECTV’s interactive coverage of major tournaments,” said Dan York, chief content officer for DIRECTV. “Viewership of this distinctive sports content continues to grow year over year, and viewers are staying engaged longer. Watching PGA TOUR events on DIRECTV is like nirvana for golf fans.”
